November 1 : Rain in the Desert. Thank you for praying for the camp held in July for people who had been writing in and taking a course on the Bible. In spite of an unexpected down pouring of rain in the desert, students did come and hear about the Truth. The time of meeting other participants and camp leaders face-to-face was good and very important to the lives of those seeking Truth. Please pray now for follow up. May the participants continue to want to meet with followers of Christ and study God’s Word, and more importantly, may they have boldness and courage to choose to follow Him.
November 2 : Sikh Celebrations. Guru Nanak Devi Ji was the first Sikh Guru, one of 10 Gurus who were responsible for shaping the belief system of the Sikhs. His birthday, Guru Nanak Jayanti, will be celebrated this year on Nov. 2, and is considered to be one of the most sacred Sikh festivals. The first day of the three-day event includes a 48-hour non-stop reading of the Guru Granth Sahib, a holy collection of hymns, descriptions of what ‘God’ is like, and instructions for living right. The second day of the festival features a procession that includes the Sikh flag, a demonstration of swordsmanship, and music. The third day involves the singing of hymns, readings from the Sikh scripture, lectures and recitation of poems in praise of the Guru, and ‘Langar,’ a community lunch offered in the spirit of service and devotion. Pray for South Asian Sikhs around the world to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ this week. Pray that they will hear God’s true Word and recognize that the only way to live right is to know Jesus as their Savior. Pray that Christians will seek out Sikhs in their neighborhoods, establish friendships with them, and boldly invite them to learn more about the Christian faith.
November 3 : Hindus Choose Jesus. In April, you prayed that India’s Hindu worshipers would discover the power of the resurrected Lord and place their trust in Him. Give thanks to the Lord that throughout India, the Father is drawing Hindus to Himself as His faithful servants continue to share the truths of His Word. Continue to pray that as seeds are planted and watered, God will call many Hindus unto Himself. May future generations of Hindus be able to say, ‘The Lord is my strength and my song, And He has become my salvation; This is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will extol Him’ (Exodus 15:2, NASB).
November 4 : Hospital Expands. Pray for the expansion projects at the hospital–additional wards, a new pharmacy, expansion of the School of Nursing, and a cancer radiation treatment center. Pray that the work will progress smoothly and that all the materials needed will be available. Pray that the facilities will be used to bring glory to God.
November 5 : Mouth to Ear. Thank you for praying for the seminary graduate who has committed the next two years of his life to reaching the D Muslims and to training others in how to reach them. Give thanks to the Lord that he is finding many Christian leaders to train and has taken personal responsibility to ensure that they receive effective training in order to see ‘Mouth to Ear’ evangelism accomplished among the D Muslims. Several trainings occurred last month as a result of his vision and obedience to God’s challenge to him. Now more of the body of Christ in this area have been mobilized for this task! The seminary graduate continues to pursue ministry as he fathers his four children, two of whom he adopted when his brother died several years ago.
November 6 : Dividing to Multiply. Give thanks to God for beginning to answer your prayers for the church planting in Guwahati! In the past two months, the new master church planter in Guwahati has been working with the Strategy Coordinator church and with a national master trainer to develop a master plan for reaching the lost in Guwahati. They have divided the city into four sections and are focusing on each section of the city for three months at a time. Their goal has been to identify local believers who will commit to planting reproducing house churches in each area. Thank God for this plan, which has already resulted in identifying four church planters in the first section! Thank God for these believers who are committed to planting house churches in this section of the city. Please pray that God will continue to lead the master church planter to more church planters throughout the city. Please ask Him to give these new church planters a clear understanding of the principles of planting reproducing house churches (modeled after the Book of Acts). Pray that they will not be sidetracked by the traditional ways of doing church–permanent buildings, paid staff with advanced educational degrees, etc. Pray that the church planters will focus on winning the lost, gathering the new believers together for worship and prayer, and then training and sending the believers out to replicate the process. Pray that God will grant many church-planting movements from these church planters.
November 7 : Following in Baptism. Thank you for praying for Pastor N and the Jat Sikh families with whom he meets. Recently seven of these people were baptized! Lift up this new church and these new believers. Pray that many more will join them in following Jesus Christ. Pray for Pastor N and his family as they continue to serve the Lord among the Jat Sikhs.
