The best word to describe India is “mosaic.” The mosaic of languages includes several hundred languages and dialects. The hundreds of people groups make up a mosaic of different cultures. Everywhere you go in India, you see a mosaic of colorful clothing: graceful saris, flowing salwar kameezes, bright turbans and white dhotis. The landscape makes up a mosaic of soaring mountains, deserts, fertile plains and thick jungles. There is a mosaic of rural and urban, agriculture and technology, rich and poor. India truly is a land of diversity.
India is one of the most spiritual places in the world. The religious mosaic includes Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis. India is also one of the most lost places in the world. There are still 325 people groups with no known evangelical believers and no one engaging them with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The huge task of reaching these millions of people is overwhelming at times.
There is still so much work left to do. Yet, God is at work in India! Daily He is drawing people to Himself. He genuinely loves each of the billion-plus people of India.
