Let the pieces fall into place...
The Explore and Engage assignment is a job opportunity for career individuals, couples and families to let the pieces fall into place as they seek God’s will for their ministry on the field.
The program is aimed at taking the Gospel of Christ to the Ends of the Earth.
The Ends of the Earth is comprised of people groups that are unengaged and unreached (UUPG) and have not had a new evangelical church started within the past two years.
The South Asia Region is committed to seeing every unreached people group engaged with a church-planting movement.
The Explore and Engage position allows personnel to come to South Asia and explore the needs of several UUPGs without having to choose a specific people group before arriving on the field.
Once Explore and Engage personnel arrive on the field, the first term of service will involve researching the needs of several UUPGs while learning a particular gateway language.
As personnel experience the needs firsthand and sense God’s leadership, they can decide which people group to adopt for ministry.
How does it work?
Before arriving on the field, personnel select a job request listing a particular set of specified UUPGs (anywhere from two to 10) in a given locality. Then, the first three-year term will unfold in three distinct phases.
Phase 1:
Arrival on the field and four weeks with experienced missionaries at an entry orientation center to learn more about how to live and thrive in a new country
[See our SOAR program - orientation and support]
Phase 2:
Twelve to 18 months of language and culture acquisition; exploration into the worldview, ministry needs and opportunities of selected UUPGs with the aim of adopting one of them as a ministry focus; final training workshop that will help formulate a ministry strategy among the selected UUPG
Phase 3:
Launching into a ministry of evangelism and multiplying church plants among the adopted unengaged unreached people group
