We’ve got your back
SA leadership is devoted to empowering personnel through providing essential training and support systems. No matter what role you take in South Asia, you will have great opportunities for training and encouragement.
The Edge and Orality teams have built-in support systems for short-term personnel. Training and mentoring are readily available as well as full access to member care personnel.
Because expectation of Edgers is high, the Edge Leadership Team has raised the level of support and training. The Edge Leadership Team organizes several trainings a year and gives Edgers opportunities to attend trainings usually reserved for career folks. The training is a just-in-time model that is meant to continue throughout the entire term.
As a part of both theEdge and Orality programs, Edge Express teams are provided with in-time trainings every six months to help teams learn essential skills needed at each stage of their project; face-to-face, on-site mentoring and coaching visits every three months; and Edge trainings and retreats. Additionally, teams will be working with a local Strategy Coordinator who will serve as an advisor for logistics, living issues, and relating to people groups.
For all South Asia personnel, workshops are available at various times during the year, and focused times of training for the region as a whole occur annually, with a regional focus on best practices. Best practices are proven techniques that are easily learned and easily transferable to others.

Through the International Mission Board you can serve in South Asia in the following Short-Term programs.
[Go to IMB.org]
THE INTERNATIONAL SERVICE CORPS (ISC) PROGRAM
This option is a program for individuals, couples and families to serve the IMB as short-term missionaries. It is open to individuals who acknowledge God's leading and are willing to serve on the field to meet priority needs. Among other critical assignments, they fill requests in the following categories: English as a Second Language, Human Needs, Witnessing, Agriculture, Sports Evangelism, Music Evangelism, Preaching, Health Care, Student and Youth. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and an active member of a Southern Baptist Church.

THE JOURNEYMAN PROGRAM
The Journeyman program is available for single college graduates who are willing to commit to two years of service overseas. Journeymen will participate in an orientation prior to departure for the field and will have the opportunity to attend a debriefing session upon completion of assignment. Journeymen fill a variety of assignments from around the world. Applicants must be single (never married), between 21 and 30 years of age, and an active member of a Southern Baptist Church.
THE MASTERS PROGRAM
This program encourages Southern Baptists who have already achieved personal fulfillment in their careers to help fulfill the unfinished task of taking the Gospel to a lost world. Masters program participants will serve two to three years overseas, using the maturity, skills and experience they have gained in a lifetime. Applicants must be at least 50 years of age, education or experience sufficient for assignment, and an active member of a Southern Baptist Church.
