"Jesus used stories when he spoke to the people. In fact, he did not tell them anything without using stories."

Jesus knew His audience. In the place and time of His ministry, Jesus’ audience was made up of oral learners, so He met them where they were. He taught them with stories.
Today, oral learners still make up the majority of the world’s population. In order to reach these people with the Gospel, Jesus’ followers must follow His example and use oral methods to communicate in a way they will understand.
Oral learners may be non-literates or literates. What characterizes oral learners is that they learn best through stories, art, dance and drama. Regardless of whether they are literate, the primary method of communication for oral learners is through oral means.
This means that if we wish to communicate the
Gospel effectively to the 1.1 billion oral learners in South Asia,
we must also use oral methods
What are oral methods?
Oral methods are sequential. Oral learners connect truths in a chronological sequence. When an oral learner can place truth within the context of a story, he can better understand, remember and reproduce that truth. For this reason, we present the Good News about Jesus in a chronological manner.
Oral methods are concrete. Oral learners prefer to relate truth in concrete rather than abstract terms. That means that truth should be connected to ordinary, everyday objects, events or relationships to which oral learners can touch, feel and relate.
Oral methods are relational. Oral learners do not separate the message from the messenger.

There are many ways that you can get involved in spreading the Gospel to oral learners!

S-T4T
In order to help meet the needs of oral learners, the Orality Team has developed an oral training method for evangelism and discipleship, S-T4T.
S-T4T, or Storying Training for Trainers, is a method of telling a set of stories beginning with your story (your testimony) and leading through strategic Bible stories. Through this method, anyone can be equipped to share his or her faith and encourage the method’s reproduction. Learn more...>
