The South Asia Region is dedicated to helping its personnel SOAR.

SOAR, Systematic Orientation Across the Region, is a new nine- to twelve-month orientation program that guides new field personnel from novice status to confident and competent missionary. With the help of a supervisor, Logistics Coordinator and Language and Culture Coordinator, new personnel will follow a month-by-month orientation designed to guide them through the critical path to gaining skills needed on the field.

What is the goal?

The aim of this SOAR mentoring is the development of effective missionaries who are competent in language, culture and CPM best practices. From the time new personnel arrive on the field, the SOAR program will help guide them through scheduled goals and activities to achieve aptitude in these areas.

How does it work?

SOAR provides step-by-step guidelines that will take personnel from greeting nationals in their study language to ministering effectively in the language. It encourages them to make inquiries into the culture so that ministry can be culturally appropriate. It provides a format for necessary networking and training. Through each step of the way, supervisors, Logistics Coordinators and Language and Culture Coordinators come alongside personnel, helping guide and encourage them through the process.

By the end of the program, personnel will have gained the tools necessary to function effectively in their place of service.
