New volunteers are frequently very surprised when they come to South Asia. No matter the assignment, they typically find a warm reception from South Asians. Volunteers are often surprised by the opportunities and the tremendous lostness. Below are a few testimonies from volunteers and quotes regarding the importance of volunteers..

"Last summer we were able to conduct at least nine children’s camps, thanks to two American teams that came," Southern Baptist worker Tanya Chisolm* said. "Many of these villages had never before had a Gospel presentation there. We also had a team of college guys who lead sports camps in numerous villages, showing the ‘JESUS’ film at the close of each camp."

"The volunteers probably had more impact on the spiritual interest [of Sri Lankans] than we ever had on the ground," Delk* said. "They had a fantastic input. I think God set the stage with the volunteers and the relationships. The tool He gave us to bring it together was the ‘JESUS’ film."

“There have been so many other people who have gone before me and have built relationships with the people and who have prayed for these people,” worker Nikki Edenfield* said. “I was so privileged just to get to be here and be a part of all that – to see those people coming to Christ, to see hearts soften, to see people get baptized.”

“We must go. This is the hour when the door is open – for such a time as this,” volunteer Liz Fendley* said. “...we are able to build relationships with them and show them how much God loves them. I think this is an incredible opportunity.”
